Expectations of strabismus surgery

The operation of strabismus has no direct effect on the improvement on the eye’s visual acuity. This will be achieved by covering the healthy eye and wearing glasses.

Stereoscopic vision can be improved to a certain extent, but generally children with strabismus never reach the stereopsis and the sense of depth that a child who has never showed strabismus has.

The alignment of the eyes after surgery is usually very good, although sometimes further adjustment may be needed.
