When to examine a child’s vision?

Vision can be evaluated at any age, even immediately after birth.

A rough evaluation can be done by a pediatrician or a family doctor, but it
must start from birth and become systematic.

Generally the assistance of a special ophthalmologist is not needed, unless
there are signs that indicate a problem or if there is a family
history.

Once the child is able to name pictures or letters and numbers, it must be
carefully examined and the measurement of visual acuity must be
monitored and recorded.
