A few words about the surgery

In some cases, your child's problem may need to be addressed with surgery, which will be performed by Mr. Gerasimos Rallatos. In these cases you will be informed in detail by the surgeon himself.

The interventions are performed at the Athens Eye Hospital by highly specialized staff. These are usually day surgery procedures for which the child is required to remain at the clinic for 4 to 6 hours. The child is accompanied by both parents and we ensure that you are never alone during the waiting period at the hospital and for the nursing staff to continuously provide you with updates. It is understandable that any intervention on the child causes you severe stress and anxiety. Our aim is for this difficult time to pass by as painlessly as possible. Mr. Gerasimos Rallatos will be available 24hours a day should you have any questions.

With the exception of certain procedures such as ptosis, cataract, glaucoma, which need to be examined the next day, the child is usually examined 2 to 3 weeks after surgery.
