The event in honor of Gholam Peyman, from Tulane University, New Orleans, and University of Phoenix, Arizona, was successfully completed on Sunday, July 1st. The scientific event took place at the Athens Eye Hospital lobby, and was attended by honored guests as well as approximately 150 ophthalmologists.

The scientific event took place at the Athens Eye Hospital lobby, and was attended by honored guests as well as approximately 150 ophthalmologists.
The scientific program began with a speech by ophthalmologist Christina Kanaki, who presented the scientific work and life of Professor Gholam Peyman, followed by a speech by Professor Peyman, who made a reference to his newest research interests and accomplishments, including the new holographic phoropter, a new 3D-ultrasound device that can depict both the anterior and the posterior segment, as well as a controlled drug-infusion and injection device (jet injector) operating both intravitreally and under the conjunctiva.
This was followed by a lecture by the honorary guest Professor, and member of the International Academy of Ophthalmology, Mr. Georgios Theodosiadis, who talked about the rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in high myopia.
Following that, Professor Mandi Conway spoke about the macula lutea genetics and the diagnostic tests related to this modern condition, as well as the steps that have been made in this field.
Following a break, the Head of the Ophthalmology Department of the Red Cross, Mr. Ilias Feretis, presided over an open round table with case studies presentations, by guest speakers such as Ioannis Theocharis, Panos Stavrakas, Professor Panos Theodosiadis, Paris Tranos, Georgios Pappas, Stratos Paroikakis, Stathis Liazos, and S. Mourtzoukos.
The honorary event concluded with lunch.
