that is capable of 100,000 scans/sec, with a tremen-
dous filtering capability that not only depicts the retina but also
the underlying
choroid
. This is very important because, apart from
ARMD, there are other diseases of the macula that compromises the
choroid such as “Central Serous Chorioretinopathy” (CSR).

Electroretinography (ERG) is an examination that measures the elec-
trical responsiveness of the various retinal cell types when they re-
ceive light stimuli. The area that normally gives the highest potential
is the macula, the most sensitive to light stimuli section of the retina.
